Professor Piotr Kuna is Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine Medical University of Lodz and Head Division of Internal Medicine, Asthma and Allergy at the Barlicki University Hospital, Lodz, Poland.  Dr Kuna graduated Summa cum Laude from the Medical University of Lodz, in 1981.  In 1987 he obtained PhD from the same University.  Postdoctoral Research Training he completed in Dept. of Lung Medicine and Dept. of Microbiology and Immunology, Lund University, Sweden and in Div. of Allergy, Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology, State University of New York at Stony Brook, USA from 1988 until 1993.  In 1998 he received position Professor of Medicine from the President Republic of Poland.  He was President of the Polish Society of Allergology. Currently he is President of the Polish Society of Metabolic Disorders, Vice President of The Polish Society for Civilization Diseases.  He was CEO of the University Hospital in Lodz form 2002 till 2019. Dr Kuna research interest focuses on advancing our knowledge on the pathogenesis of respiratory and allergic diseases, with special interest in severe asthma and COPD.  He is also involved as leading investigator in clinical trials with new drugs developed for treatment of Respiratory Diseases.
